Sunbird Bioenergy held our first Multi Stakeholder Forum (MSF) at the University of Makani (Unimak) in Sierra Leone. Andrew Gee, Transition Director, outlined Sunbird’s plans to restart the project to the attendees that included local chiefs, NGOs, politicians and other interested parties.
The MSF was started by Addax Bioenergy as an open forum to discuss the project with the local community and to manage any concerns in an open and transparent manor.
Sunbird outlined our plans to restart the factory and to introduce a substantial cassava grower program. The community welcomed the job creation initiative and urged the company to accelerate the implementation timetable. The local chiefs noted that new jobs were desperately needed to offset the down-turn in the local mining industry.
