In this African Business article, Richard Bennett, CEO of Sunbird bioenergy, expresses our vision for replicating Sunbird's renewable fuel projects in Sierra Leone and Zambia across Africa, and how bioenergy can deliver energy security (SDG-7), job creation (SDG-8) and reduce carbon emissions (SDG-13).
It is our view that Africa has a sufficient bioenergy resources to become energy independent on renewable fuel, and countries such could get cracking on implementing their renewable fuel and clean cooking strategies.
The potential for Africa to become a major producer of bioenergy is undoubtedly considerable. Bennett believes the continent can become a “green powerhouse”, with bioenergy helping the continent to become energy independent and ultimately an exporter of fuel to other markets.
